The 2008 Zabala Vineyard, Arroyo Seco Syrah has delicious blueberry and lavender aromas with layers of fruit flavor – a classic Syrah from Monterey’s cool coast.
Tasting NotesThis wine shows the purity of fruit inherent to Syrah grown in Monterey’s cool,
marine-influenced climate. Aromas of boysenberry and blueberry mix with scents
of mocha and baking spice. The flavors are complex and layered with smooth
tannins and a long finish.
Vineyard NotesArroyo Seco: Zabala Vineyard
Production NotesSyrah was the last of the 2008 vintage grapes to be harvested from the Zabala
Vineyard. Picked during the last week of October, the grapes were gently
crushed, resulting in about 40% whole-berries. The bins were inoculated after a
two-day cold soak and, following fermentation and extraction, the wine was
pressed at dryness using a small basket press. Racked to barrel by means of
gravity flow, the wine aged 21 months in French oak (16% new).
