March Newsletter

We hope you’re all enjoying this wild winter. Here in Sonoma, we saw back-to-back weekends that produced bikinis in the first and snow in the second. Whether you’re looking for a better evening glass of wine or an upgrade to your après-ski repertoire, the20 has you covered.

Winter’s been a good season for the20. In February we were able to expand from just serving the good citizens of California, to also include those in DC, NM & OR. If you live in any of these markets or have friends there that love wine, send them our way. We’ve received hundreds of requests from people in other states and we promise we are working to expand as quickly as possible.

In addition to the crazy weather, winter has provided us with a bounty of wine options. Collectively our expert and consumer panels have tasted over 1,000 wines this winter to find amazing wines at a great value for you.

2008 Mercy Arroyo Seco Pinot NoirOne of those wines was the 2008 Mercy Pinot Noir, Arroyo Seco, which was featured in theClub in February ($80 for equivalent of 4 bottles). The Mercy combines California sun with difficult growing conditions to create a fruit-driven Pinot with a long, lingering finish.

2007 Domenico Napa Valley Cabernet SauvignonFor the March release from theClub, we chose the 2007 Domenico Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($70 for equivalent of 4 bottles). This wine was a crowd pleaser in both of our panels for its core fruit and earth flavors and its smooth tannins. Winemaker Dominick Chirichillo began winemaking at age 8, so you can be sure he knows a few things about wine. We were also impressed with several of Dominick’s Italian-varietal wines, and will be featuring his 2007 Charbono in theCellar, our online store.

More fantastic artisan wines are on their way.
